Editorial Internship (January 2021-May 2021) 

  • As the editorial intern for USC Press, my responsibilities include editing manuscripts for grammatical, stylistic, or structural errors, and incorporating changes made by the author into the manuscript itself. This position required regular contact with the Production Editor to coordinate deadlines and goals.  

 

Marketing Internship (May 2020-December 2020) 

  • This position requires the ability to successfully seek out and engage with targeted audiences to promote recent publications. Required regular attendance and participation in staff meetings, book launches, and meetings with the marketing director in order to plan successful outreach initiatives. 

 

University of South Carolina  

English Instructor (August 2021-December 2021)

  • My primary responsibility as an English instructor is to complex ideas in the fields of literary and rhetorical analysis to my students in an approachable and engaging fashion. I am responsible for creating lesson plans, leading and facilitating classroom discussions, as well as assessing and offering feedback on the quality of student writing. 

 

Graduate Teaching Assistant (August 2020-May 2021) 

  • Instructor of freshman English, responsible for teaching students written communication skills and how to approach and interpret a variety of texts in a complex fashion. Responsible for creating lessons to effectively facilitate classroom discussion, as well as assessing and offering feedback on the quality of student writing. Often working under tight, competing deadlines with other classes, projects, and internships. 

 

Writing Tutor - Graduate Writing Center (August 2019-May 2020) 

  • Working as a writing tutor required strong interpersonal skills, a steady temperament, and the ability to examine the client’s work in order to recognize errors and then help them identify changes to be made in order to complete and submit the assignment. While I was not an editor, it was my responsibility to work with the client and help them identify mistakes at both the local and global levels, and to give them the tools to improve their writing. 

 

Supplemental Instruction Leader (January 2018-May 2018) 

  • As a Supplemental Instruction Leader, I was responsible for the creation of lesson plans to lead tutoring sessions effectively. This position required excellent interpersonal skills to interact and engage with the students so that they might think critically about the material and better understand it, preparing me for future teaching and instructional engagements.
